The Corredor de las Haciendas Pulqueras route is a full-day tour, running approximately six to seven hours, operated by local guides and regional tour operators covering the Apan-Tepeapulco hacienda corridor in Hidalgo, Mexico. Departing from the Apan municipal plaza, the route links two or three Porfirian-era haciendas pulqueras scattered across the corridor between Apan and Tepeapulco, an area that formed one of Mexico's principal pulque-producing zones through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. At each hacienda stop, the group tours the estate's tinacal and grounds, followed by a tasting of pulque and fruit- or nut-flavored curados specific to that hacienda's production. A traditional Hidalgo meal is served at one of the hacienda dining rooms partway through the day, typically featuring regional dishes built around barbacoa, maguey worms, or other local specialties depending on the season and the hacienda hosting that stop. Guides provide commentary throughout on the region's pulque history, the architecture of each estate, and the agricultural cycle of the maguey pulquero fields that surround the corridor. Transport between hacienda stops is included as part of the tour, typically by van or minibus, since the haciendas are spread across rural roads not well served by public transport. Groups tend to be small to mid-sized, guided primarily in Spanish, with the day's pace built around three main stops rather than a rushed itinerary. The tour does not include lodging, and visitors joining from outside Apan or Tepeapulco should plan for a full day away from other activities. Dietary substitutions at the included meal are limited but can sometimes be arranged with advance notice given the tour's Spanish-speaking operators. The dry season, from October through April, makes the rural roads connecting the haciendas easiest to travel, while the route runs year-round overall.
