Extreme Zipline Circuit at Grutas de Tolantongo

The zipline circuit at Grutas de Tolantongo strings together four connected sections spanning roughly 1,890 metres above the canyon park in Ejido San Cristobal, Cardonal, Hidalgo, Mexico. The ride is built for a broad range of visitors: no climbing or harness experience is required, riders are clipped into the cable by park staff, and most sections are graded for the average adult, though some lines involve rapid speed and height that make it less suitable for very young children. The park's zipline facility supplies harness and helmet as part of the ticket price, so riders need only closed-toe shoes and a secure way to carry a phone or camera, since loose items are not permitted on the lines. Staff operating the zipline facility run the circuit daily and give a safety briefing at the first platform covering the braking system, hand positioning, and the landing procedure at each stage before riders proceed to the higher sections; an attendant is stationed at each platform to clip and unclip riders and to radio ahead if conditions change. The circuit runs year-round, but strong winds occasionally suspend operations on the longer, more exposed sections, so the driest and calmest riding conditions fall between November and April, when skies are typically clear and temperatures in the canyon are cooler. Because the zipline circuit sits inside the same park as the hot springs and cave features, riders should plan the timing of their session around the park's overall crowd flow, since midday and weekend visits bring the longest waits at each platform.
