Hot Springs at Escondido Place

Escondido Place is a smaller, quieter alternative to its larger neighbour La Gruta, set among gardens on the same thermal corridor north of San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato state. The park has three mineral pools drawing on the same underground hot spring system as the surrounding area: one outdoor pool and two smaller enclosed pools set inside stone-walled rooms. No swimming skill or fitness prerequisite applies beyond general water comfort, and the pools are shallow enough for most ages, though small children should be supervised at all times since staffing is lighter than at the larger parks nearby. No special equipment is provided; visitors bring their own swimwear, towel, and sandals, and changing facilities are basic compared with the larger La Gruta complex. Escondido Place is run directly by its family operator rather than a branded tour company, and reputation among regular visitors rests on its lower prices and smaller crowds rather than added amenities. There is no formal lifeguard or rescue programme comparable to a certified water park, so visitors with limited swimming ability should stay in the shallower sections. The park is open year-round with consistent water temperature, but it draws its heaviest crowds on weekends and Mexican public holidays; weekday visits, especially in the morning, are markedly quieter.
