Spa at Hotel Bo

The spa at Hotel Bo occupies a quiet wing of San Cristobal de las Casas's best-known design hotel, built around exposed stone walls, dark timber, and a small fire pit garden used for post-treatment tea. Signature treatments draw on Chiapas produce rather than imported spa brands: a cacao and coffee body wrap sourced from Soconusco growers, a highland herb deep-tissue massage using rosemary and arnica grown in the surrounding hills, and facials built around local botanicals suited to the dry highland air. Therapists are trained in-house and rotate between Swedish, deep-tissue, and lymphatic techniques, with the hotel's reputation resting on consistency rather than novelty. Facilities are compact -- a handful of treatment rooms, a small fitness room, and the garden -- rather than a sprawling wet area, so the emphasis is on the individual treatment rather than a day of bathing. There is no steam room or pool. Guests staying at the hotel have priority booking, but non-residents can reserve treatments subject to availability, generally by calling or messaging ahead rather than walking in. The treatment menu is presented at booking, with therapists able to adjust pressure and duration on request. Given San Cristobal's altitude of roughly 2,100 metres, many visitors book a massage on arrival specifically to ease the effects of the elevation change, and the herb-based treatments are formulated with that in mind.
