El Chiflon and the Velo de Novia Cascade

The Velo de Novia is a single 120 m veil on the Rio San Vicente, reached by a paved riverside path with steps that climbs from the ejido car park past the smaller Cascada Suspiro and Ala de Angel falls to a viewing platform in about 45 minutes; the framing options run from the full 120 m drop taken from the base to tighter shots of the spray-driven rainbow that forms around mid-morning. The water is a hard mineral blue that photographs best under high cloud rather than harsh direct sun, which blows out the whitewater highlights. The sun angle produces a rainbow in the Velo de Novia spray roughly between 09:30 and 11:30, and this window draws the heaviest visitor traffic at the top platform, where space for a tripod is limited and shared informally among photographers waiting their turn. March to June gives the strongest blue; the river runs milky and brown after heavy summer rain. The top platform is exposed to heavy, near-constant spray, so a weather-sealed body or a rain cover is more important than any specific filter. No tripod permit is required, though the platform's narrow space naturally limits how many can be set up at once; there is no drone restriction posted, though the narrow gorge makes flying impractical. The ejido opens the centre daily 07:00 to 18:00 and charges roughly 60 MXN (approx USD 4) per person, cash only.
