Rossco Backpackers Hostel

Rossco Backpackers Hostel occupies an old house in Barrio de Mexicanos, San Cristobal de las Casas, two blocks from the Santo Domingo craft market and about seven minutes on foot from the cathedral. Dorms range from four to fourteen beds and sit alongside a handful of private double rooms, all sharing a communal kitchen where guests cook their own meals. A garden courtyard hosts nightly fire pits, and the on-site bar is the main gathering point for the largely backpacker and long-term-traveller clientele who make up most of the guest list. There is no restaurant, spa, or pool; the amenities are practical rather than luxurious, including lockers, laundry service, and luggage storage for guests heading onward into the jungle or up to the Lagunas de Montebello. Rossco has operated in San Cristobal for years and functions as an informal information point for onward travel through Chiapas, with staff able to point guests toward colectivos, shared shuttles, and reputable local tour operators for excursions to San Juan Chamula, Sumidero Canyon, and Palenque.
