Medano Beach (Los Cabos)

Medano Beach is the only fully swimmable public beach within the Cabo San Lucas city limits, Baja California Sur, positioned at the eastern edge of the marina where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. The beach curves for approximately 1.5 km with a protected bay location that keeps the water calmer than the dramatic open-ocean beaches nearby, though conditions can become choppy during strong northerly winds in winter. The sand is golden-beige and coarser than Caribbean beaches, and the water is warmer than average for the Pacific due to the semi-enclosed bay geography. The defining visual element of Medano Beach is its direct sightline to the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco), the dramatic eroded granite formation at Land's End that marks the meeting point of the two oceans. This geological landmark is visible from most of the beach and serves as the backdrop for countless photographs. The beach is the most commercially developed in the Los Cabos corridor, with beach clubs — including Mango Deck, Medano Beach Club, and The Office on the Beach — operating in closely packed succession along the full length. Services include sun loungers, beach bars, restaurants serving fresh fish and margaritas, and a concentrated strip of water sports vendors renting jet skis, banana boats, and parasailing equipment. Glass-bottom boat tours and water taxis to Lover's Beach depart from the waterline here throughout the day. The beach is easily reached on foot from central Cabo San Lucas, with the marina entrance a 15-minute walk inland. Taxis from the Los Cabos airport reach the beach in 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.
