One of the most dramatic and romantic beaches in Baja California Sur, Lover's Beach sits at the base of El Arco rock formation at Land's End, accessible only by water taxi or kayak from Cabo marina. The Sea of Cortez side (Lover's Beach) has calm, clear water perfect for snorkeling around Pelican Rock. The Pacific Ocean side of the same beach is called Divorce Beach, where powerful surf and rip currents make swimming extremely dangerous.
Playa del Amor, universally known as Lover's Beach, occupies the narrow neck of granite at Land's End, the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula just beyond El Arco in Baja California Sur. It is a short crescent of coarse, pale golden sand hemmed in by weathered granite walls and boulder stacks, and it is genuinely two beaches back to back. The eastern side faces the Sea of Cortez inside the bay: clear, green-blue, calm and shallow, with the submerged rocks of Pelican Rock a short swim away and reef fish visible from the surface. Walking a hundred metres across the sand neck reaches the western side, facing the open Pacific, known as Playa del Divorcio or Divorce Beach, where a heavy shore break dumps directly onto a steep sand shelf and powerful rip currents run offshore. Swimming there has caused fatalities and is not survivable in most conditions.
There are no facilities of any kind: no restrooms, no vendors, no shade, no drinking water and no lifeguard. Everything needed for the visit has to be carried in and carried out. Access is by water only. Water taxis and pangas leave continuously from the Cabo San Lucas marina and from Playa El Medano for roughly USD 10 to 20 per person for the return trip, and most operators drop passengers on the Cortez-side sand and collect them at an agreed time; glass-bottom boat tours to El Arco usually include a landing here. Strong paddlers also reach it by kayak or paddleboard from El Medano in about 30 to 40 minutes, though boat traffic in the channel is heavy.
The mood is scenic rather than social. Early morning brings small numbers, glassy water and the best light on El Arco; by mid-morning the tour fleet arrives and the narrow sand can hold several hundred people at once. Landing is onto sand from a bobbing boat, and the walk across the neck is over deep, loose sand and rock, so the beach suits reasonably mobile visitors.

When to visit
The first boats of the morning, before about 9am, find calm seas, soft light on El Arco and only a handful of people on the sand. Tour fleets arrive from mid-morning and the beach can be crowded until late afternoon.
Accessibility
Access requires stepping from a small boat onto open sand in shallow water, followed by walking on deep, loose sand and around rock, so the beach is not suitable for wheelchair users or anyone with significant mobility limitations. No adapted access, ramps or beach wheelchairs exist at the site.
