Laura Beach Campsite is the only organised camping ground in the Marshall Islands, set on grassy flat ground a short walk from Laura Beach at the western extremity of Majuro Atoll, approximately 35 kilometres from the DUD urban strip along the single road that runs the full length of the islet chain. The campsite is informally managed by members of the Laura Village community and operates on a walk-in or telephone-reservation basis, with payment in cash on arrival.
Guests pitch their own tents on cleared, mown turf under a canopy of coconut palms. The site provides a basic bathroom block with cold-water showers and flush toilets, cleaned irregularly — standards are functional rather than refined. Fire pits are available for communal use, and the absence of competing light sources from this end of the atoll makes evening campfires and stargazing genuinely impressive. Laura Beach itself is a wide, gently shelving white-sand shoreline with calm lagoon water suitable for swimming at most tidal states.
There are no electricity hookups, no camp store, no cooking equipment, and no meals provided. Campers must be fully self-sufficient with food and gear brought from Majuro town, as the village has only a handful of small shops with limited supplies. The campsite has no WiFi and mobile coverage is intermittent. Weekend visits coincide with Marshallese families using the beach, which adds to the communal atmosphere but means the site is noticeably busier on Saturdays and Sundays. Transport back to town requires arranging a ride through the village or flagging a shared taxi on the main atoll road.
