Madagascar, the world's fourth-largest island, is a biodiversity hotspot like no other. Home to unique wildlife found nowhere else on Earth, stunning natural landscapes ranging from rainforests to limestone pinnacles, and vibrant Malagasy culture, this island nation offers adventures for every type of traveler.
Madagascar has a highly varied climate shaped by its large size, diverse topography, and position in the Indian Ocean. The east coast receives year-round rainfall with a pronounced wet season (December-March), while the west and south are drier and hotter. The central highlands enjoy a more temperate climate with cool winters (June-August) down to 10°C at night. The north is tropical and wet. The safest and most enjoyable travel window is April-October when most of the country is dry and accessible.
