Getting Around Capital 2026

How Capital moves: the transit systems, intercity routes, and fares that shape your trip.

Capital Governorate is the heart of Kuwait: the Gulf Road with Kuwait Towers, Souq Al-Mubarakiya, the Grand Mosque, Sadu House, the National Museum and Al Shaheed Park all sit within a short ride of each other in and around Kuwait City.

Public
Buses run by the Kuwait Public Transport Company (KPTC), CityBus and Kuwait Gulf Link (KGL) cover Kuwait City at a reported flat fare of about 200 fils (KWD 0.200, ~$0.65); there is no metro or rail in service.
Taxi
Taxis, Careem and Uber operate across the city; airport taxis use zone fares and meters are often not used, so the fare should be agreed beforehand.
Rental
Most visitors rent a car; hire desks are in the airport arrivals areas, fuel is cheap, and driving is on the right.
Walking
Pleasant on the Gulf Road corniche and in Sharq from November to March; summer heat above 45 C and few shaded crossings limit walking.
