Amman Nightlife Guide 2025

Discover the best bars, clubs, and evening entertainment in Amman.

Amman is Jordan's dynamic capital city, a fascinating blend of ancient history and modern urban life set across a dramatic hillside landscape. The city is home to Roman ruins, vibrant souks, world-class restaurants, and a thriving arts scene, making it one of the Middle East's most compelling destinations.

Amman has a lively and surprisingly cosmopolitan nightlife scene, centered primarily in the Jabal Amman (Rainbow Street), Abdali, Shmeisani, and Sweifieh districts. The city's nightlife reflects its dual personality — rooftop bars with city views, sophisticated lounges serving cocktails alongside shisha, live Arabic music restaurants, and a small but growing club scene. The vibe is more intimate and social than the mega-club scenes of Beirut or Dubai.

Nightlife Overview

🌙
Scene
Lively and social, particularly on Thursday and Friday nights. The scene runs late — bars and restaurants fill up after 9 PM and stay busy until 2–3 AM. Alcohol is freely available in licensed establishments; Jordan is not a dry country.
🕐
Peak Hours
Most venues are busiest 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM; restaurants peak at 9–11 PM
👔
Dress Code
Smart casual for most venues — collared shirt/nice top and clean shoes; some upscale clubs require smart dress; avoid beachwear or overly casual attire
💰
Average Drink
Beer: JOD 4–7 (local Petra or Amstel; imported higher); Cocktail: JOD 7–15 depending on venue

Important Note

Bars typically close around 2–3 AM; some clubs stay open until dawn on weekends. Thursday night is the equivalent of Friday night in Western countries (weekend starts Thursday for many). Alcohol is sold at licensed restaurants, bars, and off-licenses.

Nightlife Tips & Safety

Stay safe and make the most of your evenings.

💡

Thursday night is Amman's big night out — equivalent to Friday in Western countries

💡

The nightlife doesn't get going until 10–11 PM — arriving before 9 PM at most bars you'll be the only customer

💡

Many restaurants and bars serve alcohol but Jordan is a Muslim country — drink respectfully

💡

Women can safely enjoy Amman's nightlife in groups; use Uber/Careem rather than street taxis late at night

💡

Hotel bars are the most reliable for quality — open bar at international hotels are all licensed and consistent

💡

Shisha culture is part of Amman's social fabric — sharing a shisha is a social ritual, not just smoking

💡

Ramadan dramatically changes the nightlife scene — most bars close during the holy month

Safety Reminders

  • Never accept drinks from strangers
  • Keep your phone charged and have emergency contacts saved
  • Tell someone where you're going
  • Be cautious in unfamiliar areas late at night
