Standing on the Rinjani crater rim at 2,641 metres for sunrise is one of the most dramatic photographic experiences in all of Indonesia — the caldera reveals itself as the dawn mist burns away, exposing the turquoise Segara Anak lake below with Gunung Baru smoking inside it.
