The Mount Batur sunrise trek is Bali's most iconic hike and one of Southeast Asia's great pre-dawn adventures. The active volcano (1,717m) sits in a vast ancient caldera above Lake Batur. The 2km ascent takes about 2 hours on loose volcanic scree and is rewarded with panoramic views of the caldera, Lake Batur, and on clear days, Mount Agung and Mount Rinjani on Lombok.
