Hlemmur Mathöll Food Hall

Hlemmur Mathöll was Reykjavík's first food hall, opened inside the former Hlemmur bus terminal on Laugavegur 107 and now home to a rotating collection of independent vendors under one industrial-chic roof. Stalls span Flatey Pizza's wood-fired pies, tacos, Asian noodle and fusion bowls, and the natural wine bar Skál!, giving visitors a way to sample several different cuisines and price points in a single stop. The building retains much of its transport-terminal bones, with high ceilings, exposed structure, and communal seating creating a lively, buzzing atmosphere that is louder and more casual than a typical restaurant. It works well for groups with different tastes, since everyone can choose a different vendor and reconvene at shared tables. Hours vary by vendor, with some stalls opening for lunch and others geared more toward evening drinks and small plates, so it is worth checking individual vendor hours before a specific visit. There is no single reservation system for the hall as a whole, though certain vendors, such as Skál!, take their own bookings for dinner service.
