Hotel Geysir

Hotel Geysir stands directly opposite the Geysir geothermal field in the Haukadalur valley on the Golden Circle, close enough that Strokkur's eruptions are visible from parts of the property, and within a short walk of the area's souvenir shop, café, and golf course. Opened in 2019, the hotel is a purpose-built, contemporary property with a low, modern profile that avoids competing visually with the geothermal landscape, and its 77 rooms and 6 suites are finished with nature-inspired, understated Nordic decor. Standard, Superior, and Deluxe rooms are available, several with views toward the geothermal steam fields rather than the car park side of the property. The on-site restaurant serves Icelandic cuisine with a focus on local ingredients, paired with dining-room views of the surrounding landscape, and there is a bar for evening drinks. A geothermal-heated hot tub is available on site, drawing on the same volcanic activity that powers Strokkur next door, though the property does not run a full spa complex. A tour desk helps guests arrange Golden Circle excursions, glacier tours, and transport, and the location allows visitors to experience Geysir early or late in the day, away from the tour-bus crowds that pass through at midday. Service is professional and geared toward both overnight Golden Circle travelers and guests using it as a base for a slower, multi-day exploration of South Iceland's geothermal and waterfall sights.
