Apotek Hotel occupies one of central Reykjavik's most characterful buildings: a meticulously restored 1917 pharmacy — the name Apotek is the Icelandic word for pharmacy — on Austurstræti 16, one of the main streets leading into Austurvöllur, the city's oldest square.
