The best places for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Széchenyi Thermal Bath
Budapest's largest and most famous thermal bath complex, housed in a magnificent 1913 Neo-Baroque palace fed by natural springs at 77°C. Features 18 pools including three grand outdoor pools where Hungarians famously play chess in steaming thermal water. Open year-round with a magical atmosphere in winter.
Gellért Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool
Budapest's most architecturally spectacular thermal bath, built in 1918 within the Gellért Hotel in stunning Art Nouveau style with mosaic floors, Roman columns, and stained glass windows. The famous outdoor wave pool, indoor thermal pools with marble columns, and a full range of massage treatments make this the most complete spa experience in the city.
Király Baths (Király Gyógyfürdő)
One of Budapest's oldest functioning Turkish baths, built in 1565 during Ottoman rule with an intact 16th-century octagonal copper dome that floods the thermal pool hall with starlight-like pinhole illumination. A less touristy, more local experience with a smaller pool hall but exceptional historical atmosphere.
Rudas Baths (Rudas Gyógyfürdő)
A striking combination of 16th-century Ottoman octagonal pool hall and modern rooftop wellness addition, the Rudas offers thermal pools fed by Budapest's most mineral-rich springs. The spectacular rooftop pool with Danube panorama and Friday/Saturday night 'swim parties' (music, colored lighting, cocktails) are unique Budapest experiences.
Veli Bej Bath (Veli Bej Gyógyfürdő)
A well-preserved 16th-century Ottoman hammam with five domed thermal pools of varying temperatures and a modern wellness extension. One of the least touristy thermal baths in Budapest, popular with locals from the Buda side. Authentic Turkish steam room and comprehensive massage menu.
Corinthia Spa Budapest
A contemporary luxury spa within the grand Corinthia Hotel featuring an indoor thermal pool, extensive sauna world, Jacuzzi, and treatment rooms offering signature Hungarian thermal water rituals, Omorovicza facials, and classic massage therapies. One of Budapest's most complete hotel spa experiences.
