Grenada has a tropical maritime climate with warm temperatures year-round ranging from 24°C to 30°C (75-86°F). The island has two main seasons: a dry season from January to June and a wet season from July to December. Grenada sits at the southern edge of the Caribbean hurricane belt, making it less vulnerable than northern islands — though June to November is still considered hurricane season.

Grenada Sailing Festival

Carriacou Carnival

Carriacou's more intimate carnival with traditional Shakespeare Mas, string bands, and authentic Caribbean culture. Less commercial than main island Spicemas. Worth ferry trip for cultural experience.

Grenada Chocolate Festival

Week-long celebration of Grenada's cocoa heritage. Factory tours, chocolate tastings, cooking demonstrations, farm visits. Focuses on tree-to-bar process. Belmont Estate and other plantations host events.

Fisherman's Birthday

Celebration honoring patron saint of fishermen. Colorful boat blessings, beach parties, seafood feasts. Gouyave fishing village main celebration. Boats decorated with flags and lights parade in harbor.

Carriacou Regatta Festival

Traditional workboat races using boats built on Carriacou. Three days of racing, cultural shows, Big Drum dancing, string bands, food stalls. Showcase of Carriacou maritime heritage.

Rainbow City Festival

Grenville's carnival celebration on east coast. Smaller than Spicemas but authentic local flavor. Steel pan competitions, calypso shows, costume parades. Less touristy alternative.

October
Gouyave Nutmeg Festival

Celebration in 'Nutmeg Capital' featuring tours of nutmeg processing stations, cooking demonstrations, local food, cultural performances. Learn about spice production central to Grenada's economy.

February 7
Independence Day

National holiday celebrating 1974 independence from Britain. Flag raising ceremonies, cultural performances, competitions. National Stadium hosts main events. Public holiday with celebrations island-wide.

Easter Regatta
