Navagio Beach Viewpoint

The clifftop viewpoint above Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach is one of the most iconic photography locations in the entire Mediterranean. The view looking down at the rusted shipwreck on white sand surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and electric blue water is simply breathtaking. Access by road to the viewpoint is free.

Fiskardo Harbour at Sunset, Kefalonia

The pastel-colored Venetian buildings of Fiskardo reflected in the calm harbour waters create one of the most atmospheric scenes in the Ionian Islands. At sunset and golden hour, the warm light on the ochre and terracotta facades is magical, and the moored yachts add interest and scale.

Best time: Golden hour (1 hour before sunset)

Melissani Cave Midday Light

Pontikonisi and Vlacherna, Corfu

The view from the Kanoni terrace over the tiny forested islet of Pontikonisi and the white Vlacherna chapel connected by a causeway is one of Corfu's most iconic images. The foreground of the chapel, middle ground of Pontikonisi, and background of the mountains creates a layered, highly photogenic scene.

Best time: Afternoon (the sun lights the chapel from the west)

Assos Village from the Hillside, Kefalonia

Looking down at the tiny pastel-colored village of Assos sitting on its narrow isthmus with turquoise water on both sides and the forested Venetian fortress behind is one of the most spectacular views in the Ionian Islands. The best vantage point is from the road above the village.

Paleokastritsa Coves from the Monastery

The view from the Paleokastritsa Monastery cliff looking down over the multiple blue-water coves, pine trees, and small white boats is one of Corfu's best landscape photography opportunities. The monastery's ochre walls also make a beautiful architectural subject.

Best time: Morning (the coves face east and are best lit before noon)

Tip: The view from the monastery terrace at 8AM before crowds is superb · A polarizing filter deepens the blue of the coves · Include the white fishing boats in the foreground
