Nestos Eco-Lodge is a small nature-based accommodation in Stavroupoli village in the Xanthi regional unit, positioned at the gateway to the Nestos Gorge — one of the most ecologically significant river gorges in Greece, designated under the Natura 2000 network. The Nestos River cuts through a deep limestone gorge for approximately 30 kilometres, forming a habitat for otters, Eurasian eagle-owls, black storks, various raptors, and one of Greece's richest riverside forest ecosystems. The eco-lodge places guests within walking distance of signed gorge trails and the trailhead for the Nestos riverside path.
The lodge operates as a small-scale facility aligned with low-impact tourism principles. Accommodation is divided between Double rooms, Family rooms with extra beds for groups with children, and standalone Bungalows that provide more privacy and direct access to the surrounding terrain. A shared kitchen allows guests to self-cater using produce from Stavroupoli village and the surrounding area; a terrace with mountain and gorge views serves as the communal outdoor gathering space.
Wi-Fi is available but connection quality reflects the rural mountain location and can be intermittent. There is no pool, spa, or on-site restaurant, consistent with the eco-lodge ethos. Hiking is the primary activity, with gorge paths accessible on foot from the property. Stavroupoli is approximately 30 kilometres south of Xanthi city and 90 kilometres east of Kavala. The eco-lodge is best reached by private car; fuel, a small supermarket, and basic services are available in Stavroupoli village. Guests should plan meals in advance, as dining options outside the village are limited.
