Dadia Forest Guesthouse

The Dadia Forest Guesthouse sits in Dadia village, the principal gateway settlement for the Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli Forest National Park in Evros, Greece's easternmost prefecture. The national park is internationally recognised as one of Europe's most significant raptor sanctuaries, sheltering breeding populations of Black Vultures (Aegypius monachus), White-tailed Eagles, Lesser Spotted Eagles, and numerous other raptors. The guesthouse is at the edge of the village, surrounded by oak and pine forest, roughly three kilometres from the park visitor centre where observation hides are managed.

The property is a modest rural guesthouse built in a traditional style with stone and timber detailing that sits naturally within the forested landscape. Single, double, and family rooms are available, with private or semi-private bathroom facilities depending on the unit. A shared kitchen allows self-catering, and a garden with outdoor seating gives guests a quiet space for reviewing sightings after guided excursions in the forest. The owners or resident staff can connect guests with licensed local raptor-watching guides who lead dawn outings to the park's observation hides, offering the best realistic chance of observing Black Vultures at close range.

The guesthouse intentionally keeps its offer simple — no restaurant, spa, or pool — in keeping with the naturalist character of its main clientele: birdwatchers, wildlife photographers, hikers, and families interested in conservation tourism. A village taverna nearby handles evening meals. Alexandroupolis, with hospitals, supermarkets, and a railway station, is approximately 60 kilometres southeast. The town of Soufli, known for its silk production and museum, is about 10 kilometres north and worth a half-day visit.
