Galaxidi is a small harbour town on the Gulf of Corinth that grew wealthy on nineteenth-century shipping, and its neoclassical captains' houses along the waterfront are the direct result of that money rather than a restoration project. The town has two harbours divided by a small headland, and a slower pace than Delphi or Arachova since there is no single monument to see - the point is walking the waterfront, the narrow lanes behind it, and eating grilled fish looking at the water. It works well as an add-on to a Delphi trip given the short drive between the two.
