Timmendorfer Strand Promenade and Pier

Timmendorfer Strand is one of the best-known Baltic Sea resort towns on Germany's Lubeck Bay coastline, and its promenade runs along a wide sandy beach lined with hundreds of the wicker Strandkorb chairs characteristic of German seaside resorts. The Seebrucke, a long pier extending out over the water, is the town's landmark structure, illuminated at night and popular for a walk out to its end for views back along the curving coastline toward neighbouring Niendorf and Scharbeutz. Along the promenade, cafes, ice cream stands, and beach volleyball courts create a lively resort atmosphere through the summer months, while a network of paths continues along the coast for longer walks or cycling beyond the town centre. A stroll along the main promenade and pier takes 1 to 2 hours, extendable into a half-day outing by continuing along the coastal path to Niendorf. Summer evenings are the liveliest time, when the illuminated pier and beachfront cafes draw the largest crowds, while a quieter walk earlier in the day suits visitors who prefer fewer people on the beach.
