Traumpfad Eltzer Burgpanorama (Burg Eltz Loop)

The Traumpfad Eltzer Burgpanorama starts near the Antoniuskapelle car park above Wierschem, reached most easily by the shuttle bus running from Moselkern station on the Koblenz-Trier line, or on foot via the walking path that links directly from Moselkern for those without a car; no permit is needed to walk the loop. The route covers a modest 5-7 kilometres with around 200 metres of cumulative ascent and descent through the wooded Elzbach valley, making it one of the shorter and gentler outings in the region, though the path does include a few short, moderately steep sections without any scrambling. Underfoot the trail is packed forest dirt and root track, shaded almost throughout by the valley's dense woodland, with only brief open stretches at the designated viewpoints. The standout landmark, and the reason for the loop's name, is the classic elevated view over Burg Eltz, the turreted medieval castle rising directly from the forested valley floor and still owned by the same family after more than 800 years; this viewpoint, reached partway around the loop, is the highlight most hikers come for and a natural point to pause. There are no huts on the trail itself, and Moselkern, at the start and end for those arriving by rail, has a small selection of cafes and guesthouses; water should be carried from Moselkern or the car park, as there are no sources within the wooded loop.
