Leuchtturm Warnemünde (Warnemünde Lighthouse)

The Leuchtturm Warnemünde stands at the mouth of the Warnow river where it meets the Baltic Sea, its white-and-red-brick tower rising above the wide sandy beach and the promenade of Rostock's seaside district. The classic frame shoots from the beach looking up the tower's full height with the sky as background, or wider to include the beach chairs, the pier-like Mole breakwater, and passing ferries entering the harbor channel alongside the tower. Early morning gives soft, even light on the tower's white paint and red brick banding before beach crowds gather, while the last light before sunset rakes across the facade from the west and warms the brickwork; the viewing gallery, open Easter through early October, adds an elevated angle back down the promenade and beach. The location works year-round, with winter giving dramatic stormy skies and near-empty sand, while summer brings full beach life and ferry traffic through the harbor mouth as a moving element in the frame. Warnemünde's beach and promenade are heavily visited in summer, especially around midday and on cruise-ship arrival days when day-trippers fill the area near the tower; working early morning or in the evening avoids both the crowds and the harshest light. Tripods are generally permitted on the public beach and promenade; the tower's viewing gallery has a separate ticket fee, and drone flights are restricted near the harbor entrance and shipping channel for safety reasons.
