The Altstadt-Flohmarkt am Hohen Ufer is a riverside flea market that has run continuously since 1967 along the Leine embankment in Hannover, Lower Saxony, and is counted among the oldest regularly held flea markets in Germany. More than 300 stalls line the embankment on market Saturdays, selling antiques, vinyl records, secondhand books, vintage jewelry, and general household bric-a-brac; goods range from genuinely old and collectible pieces to ordinary used items cleared out of attics, so quality and authenticity vary stall by stall and reward patient browsing. Most vendors are private sellers and small dealers rather than commercial souvenir traders, and bargaining is expected and generally welcomed, particularly toward the end of the day when sellers prefer to move stock rather than pack it back up. Cash is the standard payment method across nearly all stalls; card acceptance is rare at a market of this type. There is no tax-refund process, as this is a secondhand and private-seller market rather than retail.
