Westgaster Muehle Teestube occupies a historic windmill near Norden and serves the full East Frisian tea ceremony inside a working mill building, combining the region's tea culture with an unusual architectural setting. The ceremony follows the traditional East Frisian order: a piece of Kluntje rock sugar is placed in the cup, black tea is poured over it, and a cloud of cream is added last without stirring, so the flavors shift as the drink is sipped. Ostfriesentee mit Kluntje und Sahne is paired with Ostfriesische Torte and other regional cakes, making this primarily an afternoon tea-and-cake stop rather than a full meal destination. The dining room retains features of the windmill's original structure, including exposed timber and mill machinery in places, giving it a distinctive rustic character that differs from a typical cafe. Seating is generally limited given the building's historic footprint, and the atmosphere is quiet and unhurried, suited to the slow pace of the tea ceremony itself. There is no alcohol-focused drinks program; tea is the centerpiece, with a small selection of coffee and soft drinks also available. Reservations are recommended for groups given the limited seating inside the mill. Westgaster Muehle Teestube is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 and closed Monday and Tuesday.
