Georgia has highly diverse climates due to its dramatic topography - from subtropical Black Sea coast to alpine Greater Caucasus peaks. Tbilisi has a humid subtropical-continental climate with hot summers (up to 35°C) and cool winters with occasional snow. The Batumi/Adjara region on the Black Sea is significantly wetter and milder, while mountain regions like Kazbegi see heavy snowfall and are only fully accessible in summer.

🌸 Spring

March-May

Wildflowers bloom in mountain meadows and vineyards bud in Kakheti. Mild temperatures and lower tourist numbers make this an excellent time to visit.

Tips: Pack light layers; some mountain passes still snowed in until May; Batumi can be wet in March-April

☀️ Summer

June-August

Peak tourist season with warm to hot weather throughout. Best time for mountain hiking and beach holidays in Batumi. Kazbegi fully accessible.

Tips: Book accommodation well in advance; Tbilisi can be very hot (32-38°C) in July-August; stay hydrated and seek shade midday

🍂 Fall

September-November

The grape harvest (Rtveli) in September-October is a magical time in Kakheti wine country. Cooler temperatures, stunning foliage, and fewer crowds make this many visitors' favorite season.

Tips: Excellent for wine tourism in September-October; Tusheti road closes in October; pack layers as temperatures drop quickly

December-February

Ski season at Gudauri (2,100-3,307m) and Bakuriani operates December-March. Tbilisi is cold but rarely heavily snowed; mountain monasteries take on a beautiful winter atmosphere.

Tips: Warm layers essential; some mountain destinations inaccessible; Tbilisi Christmas and New Year celebrations are atmospheric; Tbilisoba festival in October just before winter
