Fresh tropical fruit from Nadi or Suva markets is an excellent and very cheap healthy snack for children - rambutan, mango, and passionfruit are all child-approved
For adventurous young eaters, the market roti wraps ($4-5 FJD) are mild enough for children and a great cultural eating experience
Bring emergency snacks for outer island ferry trips as onboard food options are limited and children's menus unavailable on ferries

Apply reef-safe SPF 50+ sunscreen on children every 2 hours - the tropical sun at this latitude is significantly stronger than most families are used to
Bring children's insect repellent (DEET-free formulas for under-12s) as dengue-carrying mosquitoes are present in Fiji year-round
Many Mamanuca and Yasawa island beaches have extremely calm lagoon water due to fringing reefs - look for these specifically for families with toddlers
Fiji Airways allows car seats and prams as free checked baggage; check-in these items separately to make boarding easier
