Cairo Backpackers Hostel

Cairo Backpackers Hostel occupies a converted building on Sharia Saad Zaghloul in Downtown Cairo, a few blocks south of Tahrir Square in the part of Downtown that retains much of its early twentieth-century urban character. The property draws a predominantly international clientele of independent travellers and backpackers who benefit from the hostel's central location and the assistance of staff experienced in orienting first-time visitors to the city.

Accommodation consists of mixed and female-only dormitory rooms with bunk beds and shared bathroom facilities, plus a small number of private rooms for couples or solo travellers wanting additional privacy. The building retains some of its original era character in the public areas, including a communal lounge that functions as the social hub of the property. Lockers are available in dormitory rooms for securing passports, electronics, and valuables.

Breakfast is available for purchase from the hostel kitchen. The surrounding streets of Downtown Cairo are dense with inexpensive food options: koshary restaurants, falafel and ta'meya counters, the café culture of the adjacent streets to Tahrir Square, and the street-food activity along the main commercial thoroughfares.

Staff can book tours on guests' behalf, including group Pyramid visits, guided walks through Islamic Cairo and Khan el-Khalili, Nile felucca rides at sunset, and overnight trains to Luxor. The Sadat metro station at Tahrir Square is a five-minute walk, providing connections to both the Red and Blue metro lines and enabling rapid access to Coptic Cairo, the Citadel area, and beyond. The hostel is well suited to travellers on their first Egypt visit who value staff guidance alongside the social environment of shared accommodation.
