Naama Bay Beach

Naama Bay Beach is the beating heart of Sharm El Sheikh's resort scene, stretching along a sheltered crescent of coastline on the western shore of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt's South Sinai Governorate. The beach occupies roughly 500 metres of soft, golden-white sand backed by a continuous promenade of four- and five-star hotels, open-air restaurants, and dive centers. The Red Sea water here is exceptionally clear — visibility often exceeds 20 metres — and takes on shades ranging from turquoise in the shallows to deep sapphire further out. The bay's naturally protected position keeps the surface calm for most of the year, making it suitable for swimmers of all ages.

The waterline is shallow and sandy for the first 30 to 50 metres before giving way to coral patches and eventually the living reef that Sharm El Sheikh is internationally famous for. Dive centers line the promenade within a short walk of most beach entry points, offering everything from beginner Discover Scuba courses to advanced technical diving on the famous Tiran Island reefs. Snorkelling directly from the beach is possible and rewarding near the southern end of the bay, where coral fingers extend close to the shoreline.

Sun loungers and umbrellas are available through individual hotels and private beach clubs; most hotel guests access the beach directly through their property. Independent visitors can purchase day passes at several of the beach clubs along the strip, typically priced between EGP 200 and EGP 400 including a drinks or food credit. The promenade behind the beach buzzes throughout the afternoon and into the evening, with restaurants serving fresh seafood, international cuisine, and shisha under the open sky.

Facilities are comprehensive: hot showers, well-maintained restrooms, multiple food and drink outlets, and equipment rental for kayaks, jet skis, and parasailing. Lifeguards patrol the bay during daylight hours. Wi-Fi is available at all beach cafés. The vibe skews toward active recreation in the morning — diving boats depart from the small jetty at the northern end before 8 a.m. — and relaxed sunbathing through the afternoon.

Access is straightforward. Naama Bay sits roughly 20 minutes by taxi or private transfer from Sharm El Sheikh International Airport. Taxis and microbuses connect the bay with the older town centre and the southern hotel districts throughout the day and into the night. There is limited street parking along the back streets, but most visitors arrive by hotel shuttle or taxi.
