Long, undeveloped beach of coarse grey sand along the east side of the Akrotiri peninsula.
Lady's Mile is a long, mostly undeveloped beach on the eastern side of the Akrotiri peninsula, south-west of Limassol. Sources describe it as roughly 5 to 8 km long, with grey sand and pebbles and a shallow, calm sea. The Visit Cyprus page notes that the Akrotiri Salt Lake lies about 1.5 km from the shore, and flamingos can be seen on it in winter. Facilities are limited compared with the city beaches: there are a few beach bars and watersports operators in places, but much of the shore has no shade, so a sunshade and water should be brought. The beach lies within the area of the British Sovereign Base, but the public access road and beach are open; visitors should follow signs and avoid military zones. It is about 12 km from Limassol, roughly 20 minutes by car, and public transport is limited. Wind can raise waves, which draws kite and windsurfers, and the strong sun in summer makes early morning visits more comfortable. Because there is little development, the beach feels spacious even in August.
