Café Amor Perfecto

Café Amor Perfecto is the flagship café of Amor Perfecto, the roaster credited with pushing Colombian specialty coffee onto the domestic market, and it sits on Carrera 4 in Chapinero Alto, Bogotá, Colombia. For many years Colombia exported its best beans and drank lower grades at home, and Amor Perfecto is among the companies that helped change that by roasting and serving high-quality Colombian coffee to local customers. The flagship has a training lab on site, where baristas are taught and coffee is tested, which gives the café a focused and knowledgeable character. Baristas pour single-origin filter coffee and espresso-based drinks, and the team includes competition-trained baristas who can explain the origin, process and flavour of each coffee. The menu also offers pastries and light breakfast plates, so visitors can combine a coffee tasting with a small meal. Signature offerings are the single-origin Colombian filters, which allow visitors to compare regions and processing methods in the cup, and the espresso drinks made by trained staff. Cupping sessions and barista workshops run from the same building and are booked in advance, which suits visitors with a serious interest in coffee. The atmosphere is calm and studious, with a low to moderate noise level, a mix of remote workers, coffee enthusiasts and neighbourhood regulars, and a casual dress code. Prices are low, at roughly COP 12,000-40,000 per person (about USD 4-13). The café opens Monday to Thursday from 8AM to 8PM, Friday and Saturday from 8AM to 8:30PM, and Sunday from 9AM to 7PM. Reservations are not needed for the café itself, though workshops and cuppings require advance booking. Beans and brewing equipment are sold on site, making it a useful place to buy Colombian coffee to take home. Its location in Chapinero Alto puts it close to several of the district's restaurants and galleries.
