Vancouver has a sophisticated cocktail bar culture, while Quebec City offers a charming old-town bar experience and Ottawa is quieter but lively near the ByWard Market.

Nightlife Tips & Safety
Stay safe and make the most of your evenings.
Montreal is Canada's nightlife capital โ bars close later (3 AM), the drinking age is 18, and the European cultural influence creates a more relaxed, celebratory nightlife culture than elsewhere in Canada
Use Uber or Lyft to get home after nights out โ drinking and driving is taken extremely seriously with severe consequences, and random spot checks (RIDE programs) are common on holiday weekends
Many top Toronto clubs are on King Street West โ rideshare surge pricing is extreme after 2 AM, so book your ride about 20 minutes before you want to leave
The legal blood alcohol limit for driving in Canada is 0.08%, but most provinces also have zero-tolerance or graduated penalties for learner and new drivers
Safety Reminders
- Never accept drinks from strangers
- Keep your phone charged and have emergency contacts saved
