Riviera Bar has occupied its corner spot on Avenida Paulista in Bela Vista since 1949, making it one of the oldest continuously operating bars in São Paulo and a landmark for generations of paulistanos. The room keeps its mid-century diner character — booth seating, a long counter, and a menu that mixes classic bar food with simple Brazilian comfort dishes rather than a curated cocktail programme. The crowd is broad and unpretentious, spanning students, older regulars, and Avenida Paulista office workers, with no dress code beyond ordinary street clothes. Drinks lean toward cold draft chopp (Brazilian draft beer), simple caipirinhas, and basic mixed drinks rather than craft cocktails; the beer-and-chopp focus is the bar's core identity. Riviera opens daily except Sunday, from 11AM to 1AM, functioning as much as a lunch and dinner diner as a nightlife stop, with the later hours drawing an after-work and late-night crowd off Avenida Paulista. There is no cover charge and no reservation system — seating is first-come, first-served at the counter or in a booth, and the bar rarely turns away walk-ins even on busy nights.
