Hotel Unique is one of Latin America's most architecturally distinctive hotels, designed by Brazilian architect Ruy Ohtake and completed in 2002 at Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônio, 4700, in the upscale Jardim Paulista neighborhood of São Paulo. The building's exterior takes the form of a curved copper-clad arc punctuated by circular porthole windows, a profile variously described as resembling a watermelon slice or a ship's hull. The structure is a landmark of contemporary Brazilian architecture and is studied internationally as one of South America's most significant hospitality buildings of the modern era. The hotel sits between Jardim Paulista and Jardins, two of São Paulo's most affluent and culturally dense neighborhoods, within walking distance of high-end retail on Rua Oscar Freire, galleries along the Faria Lima corridor, and Parque Trianon on Avenida Paulista.
