Jaguar Reef Lodge and Spa is a beachfront resort in Hopkins Village, a traditional Garifuna fishing community on Belize's Caribbean coast in the Stann Creek District, approximately 25 miles south of Dangriga and roughly 100 miles south of Belize City by road. The resort sits directly on the Caribbean Sea in one of Belize's most culturally significant communities, where the Garifuna language, ancestral drumming traditions, canoe building practices, and seafood-based cuisine remain in active daily use among residents. The property features thatched-roof cabanas and guest rooms arranged in a Caribbean coastal style, with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and verandas oriented toward the sea or the tropical garden grounds. Cockscomb protects over 150 square miles of broadleaf rainforest and is documented as having one of the highest jaguar population densities of any protected area in the world. The sanctuary also shelters Baird's tapirs, scarlet macaws, ocelots, and more than 290 bird species. Full-day guided excursions from the lodge include the drive into the reserve, jungle trail walks, and birdwatching sessions with licensed naturalist guides. The Belize Barrier Reef lies offshore from Hopkins Village, and the lodge activity desk coordinates daily snorkeling and diving trips to the Southern Cayes dive sites, including South Water Caye Marine Reserve and Laughingbird Caye National Park. Glover's Reef Atoll — a UNESCO World Heritage Marine Reserve approximately 45 miles offshore — is accessible on extended tours arranged through the activity desk.
