Bangladesh has a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by a hot, humid summer, a wet monsoon season from June to October, and a pleasant cool winter from November to February. Temperatures range from 8°C in January in the north to over 40°C in April-May, with the capital Dhaka averaging 26°C year-round. The country receives 1,500-3,000mm of rainfall annually, mostly from June to September when flooding affects large parts of the delta.

Spring
Months: Mar-May
Pre-monsoon hot season with temperatures climbing sharply. Mango season begins in May and the landscape turns dry and dusty. Nor'westers (kalbaishakhi) — dramatic evening thunderstorms — occur frequently in April and May.
Summer
Months: Jun-Sep
Monsoon season with heavy daily rainfall, high humidity, and warm temperatures around 30°C. Rivers flood extensively across the delta. St. Martin's Island boat services stop. Ratargul Swamp Forest at its most spectacular when fully submerged.
Fall
Months: Oct-Nov
Post-monsoon transition — rains ease, temperatures moderate, and the landscape is lush green from the monsoon. Waterfalls at peak flow in Bandarban. October is excellent for Chittagong Hill Tracts trekking as trails are clear and vegetation is vivid.
Winter
Months: Dec-Feb
Bangladesh's best and most popular season with cool, dry weather and clear skies. Temperatures in Dhaka average 15-22°C. The north can see temperatures drop to 8-10°C. St. Martin's Island accessible. Sundarbans ideal season.
