Safaga
Safaga is a port town 60km south of Hurghada that has become one of the world's top destinations for kitesurfing and windsurfing, thanks to consistent northerly winds and the relatively flat sea conditions. The town's reefs are excellent and far less crowded than Hurghada, offering pristine diving. Safaga also has unique medical fame — the therapeutic qualities of its black sand and high-mineral water attract visitors for treatment of skin conditions including psoriasis.

Best time: March to May and September to November for kitesurfing; October to May for diving
